A Coordination Meeting was Held with UN Humanitarian Agencies and other Partner Organizations and Institutions
Alhaj Mullah Abdul Manan Omari, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, in his official visit to Nanagrahr province, held a coordination meeting with international organizations and institutions based in the Eastern Zone of the country. The purpose of this meeting was to enhance the cooperation in delivering emergency aid to affected countrymen.
The international and domestic organizations should intensify their efforts in providing emergency humanitarian assistance to affected people in Kunar and Nangrahar provinces. The humanitarian aids include support for vulnerable citizens, orphans and children without guardians, treatment for the injured, and provision of shelter, food, drinking water, and other necessities. The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs added these remarks and also praised the ongoing activities, support, and presence of these organizations and emphasized that due to the critical and urgent situation in earthquake affected areas, comprehensive and swift actions are needed to help and assist them.
Alhaj Mullah Abdul Manan Omari stressed the need for bringing order and coordination in the distribution of humanitarian aid to the affected people. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and its employees are ready to assist the organizations in distributions of aid. The ministry will assign its staff to cooperate with these organizations, and it will ease the distribution process of the aid to the affected people.
After that, the representative of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) spoke on behalf of other agencies and institutions to share their activities and achievements. He stated that after the incident, in consultation with relevant IEA institutions, services had been begun in various areas. Mobile teams were dispatched to the earthquake-affected areas, and rescue operations are still ongoing. The representative also confirmed transparency in distributions of aid and requested to enhance support in areas such as air transportation, logistics, and telecommunication networks to ensure better delivery to distribute aid in a good manner for those in need.
In conclusion, both parties agreed to establish a joint technical committee to follow up on matters related to the ministry’s areas of responsibility and operations through mutual understanding.
